Frequently asked questions
Everything worth knowing before you make a GIF here.
help
What happens if my images are different sizes or shapes?
Every frame of a GIF has to share one canvas, so something has to give. "Fit inside" scales each frame to fit and pads the leftover space, which never distorts anything — that's the default. "Fill and crop" scales up until the canvas is covered and trims the overflow. "Stretch" squashes each frame to the exact canvas shape, which does distort, and is there for the rare case you want it.
help
Does the preview show the real result?
Yes — it plays your actual frames at your actual timings, using the same fit and alignment maths the server uses. The exported GIF is what you watched, so the order and speed can be settled before you export rather than after.
help
How many frames can I use?
Up to 30. GIF stores every frame as a full image, so file size grows quickly — a long animation with large frames can easily reach tens of megabytes.
help
Can different frames stay on screen for different lengths of time?
Yes. Set the overall speed with the delay control, then give any individual frame its own timing from its card — useful for holding the first or last frame a little longer.
help
Why does my GIF look posterised or banded?
GIF is limited to 256 colours per frame — that's a limitation of the format itself, not of this tool. Photographs and smooth gradients suffer most. There's nothing to change in the settings; a video format would be the better choice for that material.
help
Can I make it play back and forth?
Yes — turn on Ping-pong and the frames are appended in reverse, so the animation runs forwards then backwards without a jump at the loop point.
Handled with real security practices
A few specifics, not boilerplate claims.
Previewed in your browser
The animation plays locally while you arrange it — nothing uploads until you click Create GIF.
No file retention
Your frames are processed only long enough to build your download, then deleted immediately.
Abuse protection
Frame count, upload size and canvas size are all capped, and abusive IP addresses can be blocked instantly.
